These handmade silver earrings feature poppy flowers, which dangle from little silver semi hoops. They were inspired by the beautiful red poppies which grow in the fields around our area of Haute-Loire, France.
The flowers were cut by hand from silver sheet, given a light texture with a ball hammer, and very gently domed. The centres have been pierced out using a tiny drill. The flowers were polished to a high shine, then oxidised until they turned a light slate-grey colour. The oxidisation has been partially rubbed back, so that the silver beneath is revealed in places, whilst the pinky-grey oxidisation remains in others. This gives the surface a beautiful dappled appearance, with swirls of colour.
